Nostalgia

I was going through some files on our external hard drive today and I found what I have been looking for for a long time! All of our pictures of our first home. I thought they were lost for good! For those of you who don't know, Jared and I had a house the first year we were married. He bought it before we even met, and had his friends renting part of it. Then when we got married we kicked them out and had the entire house to ourselves. It was so nice, I wish we could have been making better money at the time so we could have lived in it longer. Anyway, I want to share my first house memories.

This is the front of our house in the fall:

The winter:

And the spring:

Here is the backyard -I miss all my tulips and roses! (We had a bunch of roses that went along the fence between our neighbor's yard, and one day the old man that lived next to us came into our yard-through the gate I might add- and cut down all of our rose bushes that were next to the fence. He said they had a fungus on them and were killing his plants...Really old man? I'm pretty sure that's illegal trespassing..)

This is the front living room (we had to sell our piano to make one of our house payments)

The kitchen:

The dining room:

Our master bedroom (Jared did textured walls on this room and ceiling, because he was sick of taking wallpaper off**):

The two guest bedrooms:

The main upstairs bathroom (Jared redid the entire bathroom, I wish I had before pictures. He put in the tile, granite countertop (I helped a little bit with the tile and countertop, even got to use the tile saw) new bathtub (he put the deeper tub in for me), and added the shower- did the plumbing and everything himself, he'd never once done plumbing before! Pretty proud of my man)

The downstairs family room:

And the downstairs bathroom (for the life of me, I could not get this picture to turn):

In the end we had to sell the house because it was just too expensive for a part-time CNA and a part-time Fed Ex truck driver's wages. (I was in nursing school at the time and Jared was trying to take all his pre-med courses.) While we were trying to sell it, we had to sacrifice a few items to make house payments, including Jared's jeep that he absolutely loved.

I'm really glad we had the experience of owning a house when we were first married, but I really miss it. One day we'll be able to have our own house again though, one day in the faaar away future. Until then we'll enjoy not paying property taxes I guess. ;)

**I just have to make this disclaimer: Every room in the entire house, including every ceiling, was covered in ugly wallpaper. Jared and his friends repainted every room except one of the bedrooms and the half bathroom. A TON of work was put into this house, mostly by Jared.

Funny you posted this... just last week Chase asked me which house used to be Jared's, so I drove past and showed him. That was a very nice house... and my favorite part was the burned ceiling in the kitchen :-)
