Spring Break in the Bahamas

Jared and I were planning on going to New York for Spring Break. About a week before we left, Jared came home from driving in the snow and almost dying on the freeway (not really, he just could only drive 25 miles an hour and couldn't even see 2 feet in front of him at 1 in the morning one night) and he told me he wanted to go somewhere warm instead of going to New York. So we decided we would go to Florida, and then the next thing we knew, we had booked a cruise to the Bahamas. The day we left, the roads were icy and it was snowing, and our plane had to be de-iced before we left the runway. 3 hours later, we were sweating in our warm clothes as we got off the plane in Miami. We knew we had made the right decision. It was such a nice vacation, and very much needed by both of us. The past couple months I have been working 50 hours a week, and well, Jared is in med school, so enough said. And that's all I've got to say about that. (We watched Forest Gump in our hotel room the first night... hehe) Anyway, picture time.

Leaving the port of Miami

Our room on the ship, nice view. ;)

A few minutes after Jared and I got into our room, these were delivered to us. Yum!

The sunset as we were leaving Miami. So pretty!

Our first stop was Freeport (Grand Bahama Island). Jared and I rented a scooter for the day and explored the island on our own. This is the only picture we took, we were really surprised how ugly the island was. It was just a bunch of industrial buildings and dead trees. We did find a little beach that we snorkeled from for cheap though, which was really fun. I forgot to bring my underwater camera because we hadn't planned on snorkeling until the next day.

The next day we were in Nassau. We booked a shore excursion through our cruise, which took us on a little boat to a reef to snorkel, then gave us a little tour of the island from the boat.

I haven't had a chance to go get my underwater camera developed yet, so I will post those pictures once I get them back.

Our cruise ship is on the left. This is a view from the little tour boat.

This is supposedly Chuck Norris' vacation home in Nassau. (Who knows if they really make that stuff up or not.)

Another view of our cruise ship

The last island we went to was Norwegian's private island, Great Stirrup Cay. We had to take a little boat out to it because it was such a small island. They were doing a lot of construction to it, but the part we hung out at was pretty nice.

I kept wanting someone to take a picture of us at dinner, and all the servers looked super busy, so I saw a guy walking slowly around and asked him if he would take our picture, not realizing that he was the captain of our ship. Right after realizing it, Jared hurried and asked him if we could get our picture taken with him too, so we didn't look like complete jerks. I was really embarrassed when I realized I asked the captain of our ship to take a picture of us. Ha ha, whoops!

We got back to Miami as the sun was rising, and realized we had to get off the ship and get back to reality. Too bad it couldn't last longer.

What a great vacation!

Dad says: Trust Jared to find the captain of the ship! Steph, that stuff only happened to us when we were with Jared, and now you get to have his cool Karma. We miss that!
