Rice-A-Roni anyone?

Ok, so since we don't have a stove or an oven, I decided to try Rice-A-Roni in the microwave. It probably would have turned out ok if I took it out 5 minutes earlier. But you see, the relief society ladies came to see me and we ended up talking longer than expected (imagine that!) and when I came back downstairs to check on it, this is what I found...

There was about a teaspoon of soft rice right in the middle that was delicious. Totally worth the 20 minute wait. The rest is hard as a rock, although it came out quite easy and now I have a giant rice cake.

Now I get to clean these dishes all by myself since I'm the dishwasher around here... Fun!
Moral of the story: if you're going to put things in the mircrowave for 20 minutes, check on it at least once in between to make sure it's still alive. Or just cook things on a stove like a normal human being. (that is, if you have one) ;)

I have another moral of the story: Never read Steph's blog while eating breakfast. I am having a hard time finishing my bowl of cereal now. Eeww!

That's gross Steph! My sister always sucked at making Rice-A-Roni so we called it Rock-A-Roni... I think that applies here as well.

And yes, babysitting is HUGE birth control for me! Why would anyone want to do that day after day after day after day after... you get the idea. I'll stick to fish and being an aunt

I did the same thing once with macaroni. Dang visiting teachers!

Ha. That was funny. I sure wouldn't want to be the dishwasher of that plate. How long did it take you to chip it all off? P.S. Mom- I would have a hard time finishing my cereal too if it looked and tasted like dirt :)

Not good... you know, microwave meals have come a long way - much easier to cook than rice-a-roni! Probably not healthy but... is rice-a-roni?
anyway, you can just give it the smedley soak - you know let it sit in the sink a couple days - it usually works!! (he he the smedley's "soak" every thing!!)

Congrats to your brother in Korea. Wow. What a great mission. I wish I was closer to home. I miss you guys. I would even help you with the dishes just so I could visit for a while!
